Resize Image

Change an image's dimensions — either by scaling it to 25%, 50% or 75%, or by setting an exact width in pixels with the height following automatically. This is about the picture's actual width and height, which is a genuinely different thing from its file size in kilobytes, and forms sometimes specify one, the other, or both.

Before you start

Does resizing an image reduce its file size?

Resizing changes pixel dimensions, which often reduces file size too, but it does not guarantee a specific KB limit. Set a width or a percentage; height follows the original proportions. Enlarging a small image cannot recover missing detail.

For a strict KB limit, finish with Image Size Reducer. Use Image Cropper when the required shape differs from the original.

Frequently asked questions

Will resizing distort my image?

No — the height is always scaled to match, so the image keeps its original proportions.

Can I resize several images at once?

Yes — select multiple images and they're all resized the same way, ready to download individually or all at once.

What is the difference between resizing and compressing?

Resizing changes how many pixels wide and tall the picture is. Compressing keeps the dimensions and reduces the file size in kilobytes. When a form specifies both, resize first and then compress the result.

Can I set the height instead of the width?

The exact-size mode works from the width, with height calculated to keep the proportions intact. If you need to control the height specifically, use Image Cropper to set the shape first.

Will resizing lose quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it looking sharp. Making it larger cannot invent detail that was never captured, so enlarged pictures always look softer than the original.
